When I’m not working as a doctor I’m attempting to explore above the troposphere through the use of high altitude balloons. What started out as a simple idea in 2005 has developed into being involved in a large community of enthusiasts flying balloons and rockets higher and further then anyone before. During this time we’ve pushed the amateur altitude record up by 9040m to 44379m and with the development of Pico balloons have witnessed multiple balloons circumnavigate the world.
I have also been involved in the development of a global tracking network based upon open-source software and amateur radio receivers and also SDR. We are now developing a low powered licence exempt wireless network to be used on balloons, sea buoys, satellites and at home.
